About the Tenocolumn method (the deep mixing method): This is a proprietary method owned by the Tenox Kyusyu Japan Company.

The Tenocolumn method is a method of reinforcement and improvement of soft soil by mixing soil with cement slurry. After the chemical reaction in the soil-cement slurry mixture, the mixture becomes solid and forms a soil-cement column in the ground.

REQUIREMENTS: The most important condition for the construction process of a soil-cement column

+ The soil and cement slurry must be COMPATIBLE (for the soil-cement mixture becomes solid)

+ The mixture is WELL-MIXED (to create a uniformity mixture).

Then, due to the chemical reactions in the soil-cement slurry mixture, the soil-cement column has a stable quality.

PHENOMENON: In the case of mixing cohesive soil, there will be the phenomenon of “chunks of soil entrained in rotation with the mixing head” (H3). Forming a solidified soil cement column with large chunks of soil inside the soil cement column (H1a); product: non-uniformity column.

SOLUTION: For the purpose of overcoming the above phenomenon, the Tenox Kyusyu Japan Company invented a mixture head with TENO BLADES. Teno blades have a very simple structure. Teno blades are “free blades”, which is about 100mm longer than the length of an excavation blade, mixing blades.

RESULT: When the Teno blades are attached to the mixing head, the Teno blades will prevent chunks of soil from being entrained in rotation with the mixing head.

The Tenocolumn method has obtained “Technical Examination Certification” from the Advanced Construction Technology Center in Japan. The certificate confirmed “Strength of Foundation Improvement” of all soils, including the types of loamy soil and organic soil. The certificate also confirmed a real time Tenocolumn construction management system developed by Tenox Kyusyu Japan Company

The Tenocolumn method is used to reinforce and improve the foundation of buildings and has recorded some great achievements for types of constructions:

Currently in Vietnam, base machines soil cement column construction equipment using “Teno Blades”, it seems a lot of companies are applying the same method as the Tenocolumn method.
